Default v6 3.8 Low rpm sputter help

I have owned my 99 3.8 automatic camaro for about two years. the fuel gage is broken (its either reading full or the check gage light comes on and reads empty) and about a month ago it has started to sputter. the only time it does it is in fairly low rpms during acceleration. It idles fine and it performs ok after ~4000 rpms. I have changed the fuel filter in hopes of an easy fix about two weeks ago but it didn't help and I looked into a fuel sending assembly but the price is $375 (i am hoping to avoid this expensive chance at a fix). I believe the problem is progressively getting worse. Has anybody had this problem from thier camaro or have an idea what the problem is?

I had a friend with a similar problem...said his cat was clogged and that's what was making his car run so poorly.

The first thing you should do is to get the car scanned & see what the PCM is complaining about. Most large parts stores will scan for free; just make sure to record all codes and let us know.

Default what it isn't

the fuel pump regulator and the fuel pump relay are not the direct source of the problem... i didn't think the relay was but i am thinking the fuel pump assembly is. and i've hear of a busted relay causing a fuel pump to stay on and burn up. Im getting a fuel pump in the mail so ill tell yall how that works out. and i tried to figure out about the check gauge light but it only comes one at random times and i have not been able to test it?

oh and if anybody asks you to help them remove their fuel rail in a 4th gen. v6 camaro.... remove them from your friend group and possibly from your contacts!!!!!! for those that don't know... the design flaw of the weatherstripping above the engine allows for pointy clips about every four inches to make the small gap between the engine and the top of the firewall even smaller... and more painful.

Default Low RPM sputter 99 V6 Camaro

I seem to be having the common problem with my 99 camaro at startup and idle it has a sputter and doesn't want to stay started. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and got a fuel induction cleaning, also had mas air flow ignition and coil replaced for a misfire. It is still doing the same problem. I read it may be a clogged cat is there a specific way to check or just look at it and are there any other things that may be wrong other than that.
