Transmission Help!
Ok, I'm new to this forum so hopefully I'm posting correctly. I am looking to buy a 1999 v6 camaro that is a 5 speed. I test drove it and it seemed like it ran really good. Clean engine, idle good, etc. BUT! the shifter would bounce when I drove the car! I think it only happened when I was shifting, or just finished shifting. It would feel fine when I was just cruising along. I even tried to press down on it when i was just cruising but it would not budge. I talked to a shop on the phone and we think it might be a bad tranny mount, or engine mount. Neither is really a big deal and wont cause damage to the car really. But I was wondering if anyone has had that kind of symptom to their 5 speed! I would like to get this car, but I dont want a junk transmission either. P.s., carfax report states its a clean car, no accidents reported, for what its worth.
Usually, when the stick tilts to the right when you floor the gas pedal, it is a good indicator of a broken motor mount (left side), if the stick tilts to the left when you let off the gas it usually the right mount. The stick moving up and down usually indicates a broken transmission mount. If it moves all over the place, things are ready to fall out of the car.
Remember, the key word is "usually". Don't buy till you have things checked out.

I got my replacement mount from www.rockauto.com . Fast delivery, and it was like $43.00 for part and shipping.
