Transmission?????
I bought my car back in 2002 or 2003 but anyway when I got it, it ran like a stallion with 84 thousand miles on it. Now it has 99,554 on it. When I got it the second gear in the transmission would start to slip when it got hot. Only on Hard excelleration. Made you think that it had a stall converter in it. But it would allways keep picking up speed aswell. Well it started to get worser and worser until I finally put some of that lucas oil transmission fix in it. the problem went away for about 10,000 miles, and now it is back just like before. Still only happening in second gear when the trans gets warmed up. This is an automatic, since I forgot to mention that. I am running out of Ideas to what could be the problem from a bad band to a bad clutch disk. I was hopeing that you guys would know.

RE: Transmission?????
YA I know that, and I am goingto reuild it with a Haynes racing transmission kit. But right know I have an extra transmission out of a 93-95 firebird with the 3.4 engine, will it bolt to my engine?

RE: Transmission?????
I really don't want to pull mine to see if it will bolt right up either, but if yuo say that it will, then I will just wait until it goes out. I am not scared to walk, but i dont think I will have to considering that my trans only acts up in 2nd gear. anyways thanxs for you help

RE: Transmission?????
I don't know, but I do know that hughes performance makes a racing trans rebuild kit for the 93-97 or 98 model 4l60e. It cost about $350, and I have a guy who will do all the labor for around $100. So I think it depends on who does the labor.

RE: Transmission?????
I recently had my tranny rebuilt ('98 Camaro V6) because it started slipping on the interstate and burnt the fluid and overheated the torque Converter (setting an error code - P1870). It was too late for my transmission, but I found a large discussion as to the cause of the slippage here:
http://www.cariq.com/Vehicle_Diagnos...=expanded&sb=5
The discussion in this forum led me to the conclusion that the problem stemmed from a sticking valve in the Valve Body of the transmission. The Valve Body rebuild kit is around $25 (or so I found).
The actual (or at least a copy of it) GM Service Bulletin that describes the problem in greater deatil can be found here:

If you have not encountered any of the problems listed in the Bulletin which require a rebuild, then I strongly suggest you rebuild the valve body (be sure to perform the bore/mod as mentioned in the forum thread link above). You might add alot more miles to your tranny in the long run this way.
