Default Tranny popping out of reverse

Hey all. I have a 5spd tranny. Tranny fluid was changed early last year. I just started driving it again this year and when I let the clutch out to go in reverse I hear a bang and it pops me out of reverse. I've heard it was a known issue with the t5 and it's the reverse gear that gets worn. Is there anything else I can do? It's always been hard to put in reverse since I got it, and I have to play around with the shifter to get it in reverse. I hope I don't need to replace the tranny. The forward gears seem to work great.

Could be the clutch wearing out not allowing the shaft to come to a complete stop. How olds the clutch?

Clutch fluid is full? Did you bleed it?

Well, I think I found my answer. Here's a technical service bulletin. I'm still interested in any tips or tricks anyone has.

That sucks. I know chaotic had that problem and replaced his tranny and carterbrsd94 is also have your same problem. Guess you might have to search for a used tranny.

I guess the question is how long do I have? Will it go in the forward gears too or will I eventually not be able to go in reverse? I'm going to check the fluid today and maybe add an additive to the tranny.
Will a 5-speed out of a 96+ Camaro/Firebird work? Will a 5-speed out of an older V6 work (88-92)?

Upto 97 should fit. I'm not sure about older one.

I'm going to take out the center console this weekend and check the shifter in case it's not seated right or a spring is broken.

And, I found a shop that will rebuild my tranny for $500.00 if I take the tranny out and put it back in.
