Default Tire fitment

Hey guys, I put 16x8 camaro rims on a 96 camaro base model. The base model with steel rims came with 215/60r16's. The upgrade v6 with these rims call for 235/55r16's. Will it be okay to put 245/50r16's on it? I know that this is an oem size for the Z28 models.

Yes, my Z28 used to have 16X8 wheels and I was running 245/50R16 on it.

Yea, I was aware the Z28's were equiped with that size. I just wasn't sure if there was any differences in spacing or front end clearances in the Z and the base model.
Thanks...

Nope, the spacing and front end clearance are both the same.

I run 245/50/16 on my camaro runs great. Steering is a bit tighter tho. If you can put some 275 on the back. It'll help minimize the 1 tire burn outs. You just won't be able to do burn outs as easy.

Thanks guys, haha.... It's my 17 yr old daughter's car. She doesn't need to be doing burn outs, anyhow.... That's great news. The selection of the 235/55r16's are limited and more expensive. Think I'm going to try the new Hankook ventus concept 245/50r16's.

I put 225/60/16s on my 16x8 rims and they worked great. They make it easier to turn and it rides better also. Price the 225/60s, they are significantly cheaper. Search google for "campare tire sizes" key in all the numbers to a calculator. The 225/60 has almost the same sidewall height as the 245/50 it is just about 3/4 inch narrower.

My car came with 245/50s and I can assure you after having the 225/60s I will never go back to the 245/50s

a 60? are you nuts? do you go mudding in your car? do you drag race it? if neither of those are yes, you dont need 60s

Lol. I've gone mudding in my v6 with performance tires. 60's are pretty tall. Putting 50's on it looks alot better. 245's are alot better if driving on highways. 225's feel real loose and wobbly.
