Default Stubborn steering wheel and lock

Ok, I might have to get another ignition tumbler. I either need to know how to take the wheel off, how to take the steering column cover off (since our lovely camaros are made up of one piece..) or how to disable the steering wheel lock and the security system (without disabling the car).

Here is why, my problem is, I had one set of keys, and they are the security magnetic keys. I lost them, who knows where. Locksmiths want $250, and dealers only go back to 98. My car is rearranged to start with switches. So I only needed the key for that magnetic strip to allow the starter and fuel pump to work and to unlock the steering. So either I need to bypass that somehow, or I need to know how to change out the entire ignition tumbler assembly since the new tumblers will come with new keys.

My only question than, is it I do that, will the car not like the new key? I read in the manual that if you use a different chipped key, it will shut down the car for 3 minutes. I dont know if changing the tumbler will take care of that or if the recognition software runs deeper than that.

Ok the wheel is easy to get off with a wheel puller. Your problem is you need to figure out what value the resistor is in the key. It is really not that bad as the are only 15 posibilities. The little thingy in you key is a resistor with one of the folowing values. Read this website to beter uderstand:
How to bypass the VATS system in a late model GM vehicle

3———— 0.681
4————-0.887

11————4.750
12————6.040

I would go to Radio Shack and buy a resistor pack and hot wire the car trying different values until I got it to start.

Yea, it is only switches right now because I couldn't find the right kind of push button. I will be switching to a push button start with a kill switch soon. I just have other more important issues to address first.

And if you find that tutorial, that would be GREAT! I need it asap if you can find it otherwise it may be all hope lost for the ROTM unless I magically find my keys.

This video is someone showing you how to hotwire the car.

Successful 1994 Camaro Hotwire - YouTube

The blue plug he has is above the steering column, like actually mounted on the top of the column, about halfway to the firewall from the bottom edge of the dash piece that is left when you are down there. It is one of two parts, meaning you wont find it alone. It has a black piece directly next to it.
All you have to do to make it work off of switches is to first, get some extra wire so your switches arent hanging above your legs and also to combine some wires into one. Connect the appropriate wires to your extra wire. Put on female wire ends to the ends of the wires. Now which ever wires are supposed to connect to make either the starter crank or the fuel and accessories to activate, you simply put the switch in the middle of those connections.
If Im making this confusing, let me know and Ill actually give more detail wire for wire instead of a generalized description.

Now here is my car with the rig.
Automatic Hotwiring Camaro - YouTube

And lastly, Ill put a video up of it when I put in the push start. Now in the video, I had broke the switch, so I had to hold it for it to work which is why it cuts out a couple times. It doesnt actually do that because of the rig.

Alright, thank you. I only have one more question than, unless its answered in the link. (I havent gone to it quite yet.) How do you incorporate the resistor into the hotwire. My car is already and automatic hotwiring car as you can see by the videos in my response to buck.

And thank you all for the sites with the plans to bypass. It seems simple enough. I am going to have the weirdest rigged up camaro out of anyone. Oh well, even rigged, I can make anything look good.
