Strait pipes
I have an 85 2.8 and i would like to put strait pipes on there but i am pretty sure i would need new headers can i even do that? I have a flow master muffler made for a v8 with dual outlets but strait pipes wouled be awesome. Can i do this?

You still need backpressure for your car to run right. W/o enough of it you'll actually lose gas milage. It is possible, just cut the collector off right before and after teh cataylic converter and run striaght pipe through that. Do you want a full straight pipe exhaust? Cuz you could cut the muffler out too and put straight pipe in there.

straight pipes on that car wont work... it will run like crap, and sound like crap, just put that flow and run duals from the muffler back... that will give you enough back pressure and will sound decent too.. good luck man

Thanks. just wondering if i could do it. My car is not that fast but its a pretty good cruiser. When I put on my new flowmaster muffler the throttle response improved a bunch. And then i put a custom cold air intake onto my car and it looks mean along with gives my car a nice howl and some more throttle responce. Its enough untill i get my v8
