Sterio lights went out

RE: Sterio lights went out
do all the lights in your car mess up at the same time or is it just the lights on the radio?? i dont know how the windows and the stereo would be connected....maybe there's something wrong with your alternator..but if that were the case your car probably wouldn't be starting unless you charge the battery every time you turn it off lol.....have you had anyone check the wiring from the battery to the fuses? i don't know much about the wiring and i got a c in electrochemistry last semester so i'm just putting out an idea...but when i put a sub in, we connected the power wire that's supposed to go on the positive side of the battery to the positive charge cable heading to the fuses...take it to someone who knows a lot more than i do about the wiring and see if they can test for shorts between the battery and the fuses...thats the only way i know of to link the windows to the stereo lighting...let me know what they think if you try

The lights aren't messing up, its just the lights on the radio that don't work at all anymore, which I'm not that concerned with the lights. I'm like you, and I don't know too much about wiring either, but I did check every wire that I could get to for shorts, and couldn't find a thing. The guys at the GM place did tell me that the only way they could check for wires would be to just dig around. Apparently they cant hook it up totheir computer unless a check engine light ison. They told me when I got it back that all the wiring looked fine to them, and that they had replaced some little box in the door which linked the radio and window somehow, but I soon found out that they hadn't fixed it. I don't think it's the alternator just because I've never had a problem starting it, and like I said before, the battery is charging. But besides that, everything else on the car is working like a charm. It's just really weird that when the radio cuts out, so do the windows....thats what has everybody so confused. Thanks for the suggestions, everything helps.
