hey, i own a 99 v6 camaro, it currently has cold air intake, and a 2.5 inch aftermarket flowmaster on it... and it sound so gutless... i was just wondering if there is anyone to beef up the sound ... i saw a v6 firebird earlyer this year and it sounded like a v8, i know it was a v6 cuz well.. i asked lol... anyways.. yeah how can i make it sound any better.. like is there a certain exhaust i should buy or what... thnx

 

You could put a Z28 exhaust on it

 

how new is your mufflers? they take a little while to break in, on my old Cutlass, it didn't sound exactly the way I wanted it for about 6 months after I put the mufflers on.

 

That could be the problem. I had mine for quite some time before i got it to sound the way i wanted it to.

 

The shorter the pipe, the louder the sound.

 

the muffler has been on the cmaro for bout 2 years lol, it just ..idk.. doesnt sound the way i want it too.. i think it may be the mufflers position, im not crazy bout the muffler being right at the end of the exhaust, i always liked the sound on cars with the muffler half way like i have on my 2000 dakota , has a nice deep hallow sound to it...

 

i took the stock V6 exhaust off and installed the Z28 exhaust and it sounds jus like a beefed up V8. it sounds really good.

 

wait wait... you can put a Z28 exhaust on an 3.8/3.4?

 

it actually fit? i figured the z28 exhaust would have 2 pipes coming out of the engine opposed to one that the v6 has

 

wait Jhop were both confused lol.... but wait a second... they both have headers that go to a Y pipe... so cant u jsut put the z28 exhaust on the RS ypipe??? please reply im very interested in this!
