Default Smooth intake hose

I have a 98 v6 and was wondering if anyone has just replaced the hose from the air box to the tb? I know that there are aftermarket stuff available but I just bought headers and don't have the funds. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

What aftermarket stuff? If you search you should find some GM part number used on some FWD cars that are just fittings that allow you to use regular heater hose.

If you are on the cheap maybe you could search those GM number and find out what cars they came on and head over to a you-pull it lot. You might find them for a few bucks.

I think there was some miscommunication but I'm not sure on which end so I'm going to assume I didn't explain my post clear enough. I want to remove the silencer from my intake and possibly replace most of the tubing. My intake is completely stock. I have already removed the baffles from the lid. The aftermarket intakes I was talking about was the k&n and whisper lids. I know eBay has some stuff but not really a fan of how it is routed. I hope I am able to clear up any confusion.

I think gorn misread it. Try fitting some PVC piping in there. Or if you have some money to but not lot get some intercooler piping.

Thanks. Would you happen to have an idea on the size needed? I have a 98 so the throttle body is on an angle. I don't know if that would change anything

Take off the rubber peice attached to the throttle body and measure it. I think it's a 3" hose. It's been a while since I measured mine up. You'll need a 45* angle to come off the throttle body. And 2 more 45* for the transition down to the air damn out side of the engine bay. I don't recommend a 90* as it'll add air restriction. You'll also have to drill a hole to fit in you intake air temp sensor. To do that just remove the sensor from your stock intake. Remove the rubber grommet an measure the hole size.
