Default SLP cai or wrong info?

95-97 Camaro / Firebird Cold Air Kit - SLP

This website says that kit will fit the 95-97 v6 camaros, but that kit looks identical to the one shown on SLPs website for the v8s. The first red flag is that the site claims an 18hp gain from the kit...believable on a v8 but not on a sixer.

So is this a usable kit? Also I have gone through musicman's thread about initial mods and neither of his listed cold air system links provide a kit for a 95-97 if they provide any v6 at all. Any new links to usable v6 kits? Ive searched ebay.

Yes, that is a different part # from the V8 kit, note the included 3.8L-specific Rubber Elbow. This is the one you want, looks like the V6 kit is discontinued by SLP, so get while the getting is good. ;-)

Ok awesome, lol thanks guys, next paycheck its mine. The intake on these pre 98 cars is horrific...who the hell decided it was a good idea to pinch the tube down to like an inch wide?!?!?!

I picked my SLP CAI up off of Craigslist for $40. All I had to do to make it fit was to put a peice of pvc in the rubber tube where the stock and slp tubes meet, so that there was something stiff to tighten the hose clamp onto.

Socom: You have a 3.4L, and that rubber you added is NOT needed, the tube WILL fit in the rubber, just work it. I did it with my old 3.4L. The 3.8L rubber tube from SLP is very different...

I would just build my own if I were you. Just put the air filter in the same location as Socom's.
