Default should i get a whisper lid?

i have a 2000 3.8 and i am going to add a SLP cold air intake. i was planning on getting 5-10 hp. I wanted to add a whisper lid also. Will the whisper lid add any more hp? If so, how much hp will it add and will the whisper lid work with a SLP cold air intake?

Yes the Whisper lid will work with the SLP cold air intake. You will probably gain maybe 2-5 horsepower from it. If you have $140 to spend on it then i would buy it.

Btw you should look at the 3.8 stickys before you just post a question your not sure about.

To be honest, take the lid off you have now, and inside you'll see the inlets inside. Take a pair of pliars, and at the base, slowly bend it back and forth, and it will snap off. Take all of them out, and use a sander to get the rough parts out. Did it with mine and made a big difference before I went nuts on intake systems.

The whisper lid is great deal for the money and just about any one can install them. I ran one on my old DD 3800 and you will notice a small difference. I was kind of shocked to be truth full. All i changed was the lid and added a K&N filter and you could fill a good increase in response not bad at all for the money. I had to but the CF one not a fan of it but at the time the normal one was back ordered. I would get the lid and see how you like it and then consider the intake kit. Just my 2 cents but yes they will work just fine together.

Does the SLP cold air intake itself make a noticeable difference? If I were going to buy one or the other right now, the air lid or CAI, which would give more power? Or I might just buy the CAI and remove the baffles from the stock air lid.

Here's something else we did I forgot about. After you remove the baffles on the inside, measure down to where the bottom of the filter sits in the box. From the front, drill 3/8" holes in the frame of the box, then cut them out to open up the air flow. It was another little thing we did on mine that helped. and a k&n filter helped.

Wow, nobody uses the search - this issue keeps coming back!

Get the Whisper lid, SLP CAI, and SLP's re-usable filter is better than K&Ns... It's all worth doing, and not very hard, the CAI is just a little time consuming.
