Shifter linkage problem, when in park it really is in reverse
 

anyone know how i can fix this? when i put the car all the way up into park it really is only in reverse, and in reverse it is really in neutral and so on. I just bought the car today and the person who had it before me said this happend when he got stuck in some snow and tried rocking the car out... any ideas?
