Shift kits...Worth the $125?
I've been driving my camaro latly and I've noticed that my '95 3.4L automatic has nice low-end and mid range touqe but high-end is really weak. I was thinking about getting a TransGo Shift Kit for about $125 or I could go and get a B&M Shift Plus for about $40-$50. Also...When I park my car in my garage after I take a drive...come back later and feel the shifter its pretty warm. In the 90-95 ish degree range. ( the summer heat here is about 90-95 right now but the car is in the shade...all of it) Is that due to my garage and the engine heat just warming the car up or is it my trans overheating? Perhaps I'm just too picky about the way my car works. I dunno. Gimme your opinions on what you would do and if you need anymore info just ask away.

Well, for one thing, a shift kit will do nothing for your top end, all it will do is incrase the line pressure and make the tranny shift harder. The heat you are talking about is normal. You got a big chunk of hot metal sitting under the floor radiating heat.

The Transgo does more to fix errors in the transmission as follows :
Corrects/Prevents/Reduces: Absolutely prevents Stuck TV valve. Late shifts, downshift clunk; 3-4 clutch failure; no lockup; 2-4 band failure; early shifts; 1-2 slide/slide-bump; reverse delay hot; 2-3 cutloose;
reverse clutch failure. 83-87:
Kit lets you make Converter lockup-no wires needed.
As for the B&M shift plus, it just does this :
ShiftPlus simply recalibrates your transmission's hydraulic system electronically. The ShiftPlus shift firmness not only makes driving more fun and pleasurable, but slippage and heat are reduced - extending the life of your transmission! Anyone can install a B&M ShiftPlus in minutes with a few simple hand tools. This new design allows you to improve the transmission's shifting performance without removing the transmission pan or valve body. The B&M ShiftPlus electronically enhances shift quality and is adjustable. A simple flip of the switch allows the transmission to operate in the performance mode. Flip it back and you are back to stock!
There you have it. What each company says its product will do for you, but keep in mind...a company will say anything for you to buy thier products.

I used the B&M kit and got tired of the harsh shifting, and went back to the stock set up. I guess a lot depends on your driving conditions, it really got annoying in NYC traffic.

Yea, the B&M just increase line pressure, like Pete said but the Transgo seems to do a lot more. 'Fixes' a lot on things that my transmission is doing right now, like taking a few secounds to get into reverse. Minor annoying things.
