my belt came off...and i cant get it back on the spiny thing(lol cant think of the proper word for it) that according to my diagram is the idle one....while i was attempting to get it back on i noticed some melted plastic around it...could something have over heated to cause something to melt...or does anyone have any idea what could of caused my belt to come off right there? i hope im explaining this well enough for someone to understand what im talking about lol

Have you located the tensioner pulley on the pulley diagram and used the proper socket and ratchet to release tension and put the belt back on? Now would be a good time to inspect your other pullies by listening to hear if a bearing is going out. You should also inspect your serpentine belt for excessive/uneven wear and cracks that are kinda big. Some small cracks on the belt is normal, and just means that its wearing. My guess for the melted plastic is that the belt got snarled up in something when it came off. If theres any melted rubber on or from the belt then in that case you should replace it. I recommend the Gatorback Poly-V. I put one on a few months ago and I have no complaints.
