for some odd reason my security light is on, not blinking or anything and the car runs fine jus wondering why its on.

 

Mine is on too. I was told that if you get a little water on your key's chip then put it in the ignition it shorts something out keeping that light on. The only way to reset it is to have the dealership do it or remove the bulb lol.

 

Mine's been the same way since I bought it back in 2001. I think it's an issue with the ignition cylinder in the column.

 

The 98 we have has had the security light on since we bought it. Not taken the time to check it out since we were busy replacing the engine. It's on my too do list after finding out why the airbag light stays on.

 

The light usually stays on if there has been an issue with the VATS system, like it has been bypassed. The dealer can reset the system and program it to your key if you have the system unbypassed.
