Default Security Light

Today, my security light started coming on preventing me from starting the car. Nothing on the car has changed since. If I wait about 5 minutes, it stops and I'm able to start the car. I've tried cleaning the key to no avail. It's a 95 Camaro 3.4L.

If cleaning the key's resistor pellet works, great. If it doesn't, then the problem is most likely the wiring inside the ignition lock. Replace that and make sure the new keys are cut with the same resistance pellet as your current key. New keys are generally bought from a dealer, but any locksmith who carries the resistor-pellet keys can cut it for you as long as they match the old key.

Try using an eraser to clean the pellet. If it doesn't work look up vats issues and you should be able to find out whats going on.
