Replacing 2 piece driveshaft

Default Replacing 2 piece driveshaft

i have a 93 with a 3.4 in it and i was wandering what years and engines with the one piece al driveshaft will fit in it and replace the 2 piece

im pretty sure all 4th gen camaro driveshafts are the same size but the Z has the one piece

98+ is a one piece direct replacement and easily found

just to add to that the Pontiac version ....the TA also has the one piece.



98+ is a one piece direct replacement and easily found <<< thats V8 only though right?

i would imagine all engines would have the same driveshaft

All driveshafts from 93-02 in the fbodies firebirds, TA's, formulas, z28's, and the v6 cars are all interchangable. I know it because thats the first thing that I did on my 3.4 car. I went to a 99 TransAm aluminum driveshaft. One piece and less weight.

Actually, the driveshafts are interchangeable between 3rd and 4th gen models. I've done it before.

Oh really? Well that's good to know. I know my 4th gens, but Im still learning on the others. I heard some of the suspension is interchangeable on the 3rd and 4th gens too. Is that true?

Not positive about the suspension, but I'm pretty sure the 93 model had some spill-over 3rd gen suspension stuff used. I put an aluminum driveshaft on my old 96, kept it when I sold the car, put it on my old 91, then kept it when I sold that car. I'm saving the shaft, never know when it may come in handy.

In relevant part:
"V6 shafts become more prone to vibration at speeds beyond the production speed limiter because of the interaction of V6 firing impulses and the driveline's resonant frequencies. To address this, GM sticks a fat vibration damper on the driveshaft's front yoke. That's a cheap solution but makes for a 20 lb. driveshaft and might not be an effective fix, once top speed goes higher than stock. "
