removing upper intake on a 3.4
 

hi guys i was wondering on how i would go about taking off my upper intake plenum on my 3.4. i have heard mixed theory's on either having to pull the motor to get it off(which sounds kinda unlikely) or a way to get it off with everything still in the car. i tired to get it off once before but it felt like it was snagged on something. any input will be appreciated. thank you

I've gotten it off with the motor in the car, its just a tight fit. There are something like 8 bolts holding it down. Im going to emphasize tight fit.

the qiuckest and easies way is to drop the engine down some put a jack under the k member and take out the 6 big *** bolts (18mm i believe) 3 on either side but ya any questions just shoot me a pm i had to take off the upper a couple times i have it down to a science

You don't need to drop the motor to remove the manifold. I have done several. There is some reaching and there's not alot of room to work but there's enough to take the bolts off. Just make sure you work front to back to remove everything in your way to get at the rear bolts. As an FYI, you might as well do the lower intake manifold while you're at it. You just need to remove the valve covers and the 8 bolts in the lower intake. The gaskets are sold as a kit for upper, lower intake, and valve covers. The kit is around $50.00.

you dont need to drop the motor but it only take like 5 min to do and will save your knuckles its VERRRRYYYYY tight in there then putting the engine back up is as simple as a few pumps of the jack and reinstall the 6 bolts

I am stuck at the fuel rail and **** I didn't drop my engine but any info would help. Idk how to take off the fuel lines at the rail or before it goes to the rail.

Search Google “GM fuel line removal tool” You should also get how to video on youtube.

I actually got the intake off without taking the fuel rail out.
