Default Ram air vs. cold air induction

Anyone seen the ultra Z ram air hood for the 98-02'??? Any idea if the ram air route is better then the 1998 air intake options? for the 1998 v6 camaro really your only option for air intake is an slp CAI and a whisper lid, so i want to balance out whichever one can give me horsepower. sorry for these dumb questions, its my first car and im trying to learn haha thanks for the help everyone.

Can you do that??? i thought when you get ram air it works by the air getting forced through the scoop into essentially where the air filter is... but like.. in ram air kit form =p. so if you have the cold air induction wont that just block the air thats coming in from the scoop?

Yeah, you can use both. Some SS Camaro's use the SLP CAI along with the SS hood. The Ultra Z hood is actually better than the SS hood because of where the scoop is located, in front of the intake.

Will the ram air hood work WITH the whisper lid and air intake. would it force air through the whisper lid efficiently? not even positive thats how the whisper lid works im just assuming.

That Whisper lid just gets rid of all that plastic restrictive stuff, at least thats what the description said on the LS1. I'm assuming that it should work with the Ultra Z. I think the K&N CAI or the Volant might work best with the Ultra Z. They have no lid.

yea but they dont make an open CAI for the 1998 v6. only for the 99'-up, so i'de have to do the whisper lid. i guess.

The SS Ram Air hood and Ultra Z both put the air exit in the same place, just under the front of the air lid assembly...

The Whisper lid is also bigger and significantly different design from the stocker V6 lid.

None of the Ram Air hoods are actually "ramming air." Hell, I have a WS6 which lets an insane amount of air in, but there really is no "ram air" affect unless there is an air tight seal to the airbox. The Ram Air hood BETTER serves as a cold air unit rather than a ram air. It brings colder air from the outside in, but it does not actually pressurize the air (as the name and term ram air would suggest). Just getting a hood isn't going to give you any difference in power. Just stick with the SLP CAI and get the hood for looks, but expect it to serve any real function.
