Default Quarter stick shifter install

Does anyone have one of these shifters in their car?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HUU-3160001/

This is for my daughters 99 V6 Camaro. She like the looks and so do I. I wanted to find out if you modified the stock console, created your own console and how the job turned out. Any pics of it would be great!

Thanks in advance.

I dont typically dabble in automatics but it may not be appropriate for your application. that shifter is designed for the powerglide and turbo type trans (TH350 is usually referred to as a turbo 350 right?)

what transmission is in the 99 v6? You may be able to jimmy rig it and lose functionality of the lever.... but that is just me being imaginative. I don't even know if it will bolt up.

I think it has a 4L60E tranny, but 100% sure. Its stock whatever it is.

Yes, you have a 4L60E (4 speed). That shifter isn't gonna work on your trans, it's designed to work on 2 & 3 speeds. The detents won't fall into the same place as what you need, not to mention it probably doesn't have enough overall travel to go from 1-park.

its description says it (or one of its options) will work with the TH400 (4 gear application, right? god im bad at autos), but all the same.... totally different transmission.

TH400 is still a 3 speed. It appears that Summit doesn't carry this model for the 4l60/700R4: http://www.go-fast-parts.com/5734752.html

So would this one work for my car then?

I don't see why not. The 700R4 is the same trans as the 4L60, just by a different name. The 4L60E is the electric shift version (in the valve body) of the 4L60, but physically still a 4 speed. The one thing I can't tell you is if there is any difference on the trans linkage between the two. I would call and ask a Hurst tech directly.

Message back from Jegs...

Hello

Thank you for giving Jegs the opportunity to assist you with your technical question.

I am afraid Hurst nor B&M offer a shift to fit the 4L60E transmissions.

Should you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely

Bob Grace
