Default overheating???

i know its not over heating but i just got home from a 25 mile 75 mph highway drive which normally my temp gauge would be just under 1/4 but today i noticed it above 1/2 i did flush the coolant like a week ago but it didnt do this yesterday i have also been told that the gauges in this car are not to accurate and 1/2 is a normal running temp but i would much rather have it at 1/4 like it any suggestions as to my problem

Did you notice if the fans were coming on or not? Check to make sure all the air is out of the system with the heat turned on and the temp is the hot position and that the rad is topped off. Make sure that the fins on the rad are not blocked by dirt, leaves, etc. You probably already done all that but just checking.

When you flush it, you are suppose to turn the heater on and the temp to the hot position in order for flow through the heater core. Also, same when you bleed the system. That way, you get the crude and air out of the heater core. The thermo has to be warm enough to be open when you bleed it too.

did you check to be sure the a/c condensor in front of the rad was free of debris.
just look from the front under the bumper to be sure theres not a bunch of leaves or dirt in there
