One problem leads to another
So I am fixing an exhaust leak at the CAT. So I end up trying to remove the Y pipe. Notice I said try....Passenger side manifold bolts, peice of cake...Ya, ya'll know whats coming, huh....Your right. Wont budge. So a little lube and half a tank of map gas. Wow, they are moving. Third one out. Forth one, needs a little more gas...Now needs a little more muscle....just a little more...a l m o s t got it.. SNAP!!!!!!!! #$%^$#$#^#&())**%^^%%#$%$@@!#%&()_+**^^#@@ #^% So, anybody have any helpful hints on removing the drivers manifold on a 99 V6. The only thing to come of this that was any good, I now have a hollow CAT..
If you can get a drill on the broken bolt, just drill it out, don't worry about the threads, drill all the way through the manifold flange. Slide a long bolt from the top through the bolt hole and use a nut and washer to hold the Y pipe. Removing the manifold is a pretty involved job. If you want I can send you the instructions.
Hey Pete, I knew you were out there. As soon as it snapped all I could think of was W.W.P D. (what would Pete do). Thanks Pete, I never thought of that, I was too busy cursing at my car.It didnt snap all the way flush, There is still some left. So now with the Y pipe out, I figured that just heat the crap out of it and use the good ole hacker tools. Still wont budge. I will try that tommorow.
Can I just say, if it wernt for people like us, gearheads, I dont know how to explain it. We are a differnt breed. Cars bring people together, you get two guys together that love cars. I mean, serious car nuts. They will talk for hours about a set of valve springs or the new moly rings felpro just came out with. If you ever are in need of help, they are there. Thanks to guys like Pete who know their stuff that really make this site helpful.

Ha, I know exactly what you mean, Chappie. I had the Nova on the road today and took it to Wal Mart. I honestly got more attention with that car at WalMart than I have at a car show. 7 different groups of people came to look at her rumble and ask questions. It's great. I love meeting new people with this car. Hell, I make more business propositions at a Wal Mart parking lot than I do anywhere else! I truly love a true enthusiast. They are the ones who will walk across a loaded parking lot to see a particular car!

Its a cool feeling to know that there are good people out there. My favorite is when the people that judge your car. I had a guy the other day day who was working at a White Hen Pantry conveint store say to me about my car"too bad thats a V6." I kinda ignored it as a shot and said "well, it keeps me outa trouble." He went on to say how he "used to" have a 97 SS...but now hes driving a 4 door Dodge Caliber ugly *** thing. I wanted to say to him, "oh ...to bad you are working at a convient store." I love it when people say how they "used to have" or "just got rid of." Makes me laugh.
In my neck of the woods, and I really don't know what started it, just about every Saturday morning all the car nuts start driving around with their pride n joy. Camaro, Mustang, exotics, motorcycles, etc. , and eventually wind up for an informal BS session at the Captree State Park parking lot. This is not to set up a race, but to talk about the cars, as most owners with really moving machines do the racing atdrag strips. A lot of good info gets exchanged, and no one tries to put down some one else's car.
