Default oem or stage 1??

Hey I got a 2001 3.8 manual and I need to change the clutch I just wanna know is there a big difference between oem and stage 1 clutch kits? I would go with oem but the stage 1 I found is cheaper than oem which one will last longer is basically what I'm wondering??

What manufacture? The market is flooded with cheap china made clutchs. You really want a name brand clutch. And don't fall for the AC delco clutch it one of theses cheapy china clutchs also. When I was searching I was thinking about getting one of these cheap clutchs until I found some reviews. Everyone of the cheap clutchs you can find horror stories of guys that did not make it 3 month and guy that even brand new they slipped. Even some of the name brands really skimp on the V6 clutchs. Spec makes a good LT1 clutch but I have heard nothing good about their v6 clutchs until you get tot the stage 3 clutch

I went with the Centerforce duel friction clutch. It was the only clutch with a OEM type feel and had good review from everyone that had it.

You already know the quality of the oem clutch, its lasted you quite a while too no? Why not get it? You aren't making massive amounts of power that would require a stronger clutch. Differences will be in feel and stiffness.

If I wasn't going to go OEM, it'd be Monster or Centerforce.

Well actually I bought the car recently and the clutch went out right as I got home the same day I bought it so I really don't know how long it lasted and yah I've heard the higher stage clutches do feel stiffer but I've also read the stage 1 is basically like the oem...kinda too late now already bought the stage 1 clutch hopefully don't regret it

The F1 is the exact clutch I warned you about. I hope you have better luck then most people do. You need to be very carful during break in, Once it is install expect it to be very soft. Until you can afford a real clutch drive it like your grama would.
