Default obd live info

I have a 96 3.8l camaro. I know I cant program the pc myself as its locked by gm and not one that is usually supported by anyone. What I am wondering is if there is any way to get the live info from the obd2 computer so I can see whats going on under the hood. I dont really have any issues that need to be fixed at the moment, but I have always wondering if I can do this with a laptop and how to. I have a small hand held, but it only tells me whats wrong, I would like to have a bigger picture.

yah don't we all want our own tech 2 and gm link at home!

but that is out of reach for most guys. so if you have a lap top you just need to get the program from somewhere ??? don't forget the plug for the data link.

i saw the new tuner modules have exactly that and they even measure horsepower, 1/4 mile...
and you can tune for more miles per gallon or more horsepower as well as the data display and dtc stuff, bully dog i think it was

i've seen matco on horsepower tv. don't just get the connection, make sure it has a disk for your laptop.try and find out all you can about what you can do with the program, etc...
should be something that is going to get more popular as more and more cars are full of computers for everything!
just google ( laptop obd2 ) seems to be full of options.
don't buy something off e-bay! just because you found it there.
find what you want, then look on e-bay to see if they have that one.
lots of cheap stuff on e-bay man ... CHEAP !

i just got them off google , soo i don't even know if it is exactly that, just possible.

THIS is what i want to get for my dad!

he got himself a gas hog of a truck , now he understands what i was telling him about hard on gas! worst part is he got the truck computer to remind him how much gas he burned.
with this tool he will have to learn how to keep his foot off it! ( he keeps telling me about all the power it's got for passing ) lol.
i guess if my dad is still like that ... there is NO hope for me after all ! lol
