The LS1 engine will fit easily in your car if you have a 98+ not sure about a 96 though, maybe try looking for an LT1. It'll be an easier fit.
If you do a quick search on google or something like "3.8L v6 camaro to LS1 swap" theres a really nice page with exact information on exactly what you need.
Unless you have a donor car to take all the parts from, its a pretty deep pocket mod. I averaged mine to around 4-5k depending if I do the work or not.

either engine will fit without to much trouble and its all chevy so its pretty much gonna bolt in but you are going to need a full wireing harness the rear end and to re-enforce your motor mounts....oh and a gauge cluster

ok first i thought that the v6's only had 150-160 horsepower stock. correct me if im wrong. now if u really want to step up to the ls1 thats cool but u can always remember to add bolt on stuff (headers, cats, ect..) and that helps. and is the camaros r really that cheap over there, u could just buy a V8.
