Default Mystery 95

I have a 95 camaro 3.4 engine. It's taking three or four tries before it starts. I replaced the feul filter, plugs and wires. BUT once it starts and builds a little heat in the motor , I can shut it down and then it starts right up.

welome to the forum. i moved you to the 4th gen v6 section. try cycling the fuel pump by turning the key on but not to start postion for a few seconds, turn it off for a few seconds, turn it on for a few seconds and turn it off. if you dont hear the fuel pump coming on the 2nd try you didnt leave the key off for long enough. anyways after a few times of cycling the punp try starting it. if it starts right up then you have a problem with fuel. most likely a failing fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator.

I had a similar issue. Turned out to be my injectors though.

Thanks for the info. I tried cycling the pump, but it stilldoes not start.I had a friend hook up a feul pressure guage. When the key is turned and the pump comes on without starting the car, the guage went to 10 and started to drop. When it started, it stayed steady at 45 lbs of pressure. I noticed today that the idle speed is moving around at idle,in park. It allmost sounds like its missing.

Sounds like leaky injectors. Thats what also is most likely causing the unsteady idle. Take the injectors off and have them flow tested.

if i am reading your post right it has 10 pounds of pressure when it wont run and 40+ when it will. if this is correct i would look to the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. does n hold the 40 pounds for very long after you turn it off?

I replaced the feul pressure regulator. I replaced the three coil packs. Code scan showed a missfire on cylinder 4, so I installed a new injector for cylinder 4. Car still does not start. It is taking 3 or 4 tries before it turnes over. New plugs and wires too. Which brings me to the feul pump. Is it possible that this is the problem? But a pump is a pump, it either works or not. Or am I missing something with regards on how this pump works.

was this going on before you changed the plugs? a new plug can be bad. check fuel pump relay.

i put bosch plugs in my 3.4 and the car idled and like crap. it was also had the same hard start symptoms you had. Just on a chance i changed back to acdelcos and was fine. funny thing is we had the same problem with my ex girlfriends 3.1 lumina. her dad put bosch plugs in that and ran like crap till we swapped them out.

so i would look into it like craby said.

Yes, this problem was there before i did the plugs. I installed the AC Delco plugs and new wires when i first started to troubleshoot this problem.
