My dad's 04 Jetta TDi (Turbo Diesel) topped out at 103 and then within the week of me doing that the oil pan had spouted 4 holes and the engine just seized up, but it was under warranty so they just handed us a new car.

 

yea, snowmobiles are MUCH faster, and you can clutch them to do a good 150, most ive ever done on mine was 118-ish, didnt get a clear reading.. kinda scary lol. but i was pushing 8grand RPMs, and i didnt wanna blow a engine on a 400pound vehicle at that speed. it will pull at 110 like it is pulling from a stop. my friends got a drag sled that does a 1/4mile in 8.5sec at 139 i think, i'll have to get the numbers from him next time i see him. they dont normally do the 1/4 tho, scary as ****, specially on grass, normally they do 550ft, and at like 4sec.

as for my camaro, i redline at 95 in 5th, but it was geared low, dont know exactly what gears it had, but im guessing 3.73s, maybe 4.10s. i know it had a alluminum driveshaft on it too, only shiny part of the underside lol. i hit 112 in my ion, and the rev limitor kicked in, had just gone into 4th gear(5grand RPMs, out of 6800) and still had 5th too. have been 135 in my dad's vette as a pasenger, and that was only 3rd gear, he was afraid to go any higher. and ive been on a banshee that, dont know what it hit, but faster than 80, was geared for top end. been on my girl friend's dad's GSXR(before he sold it, on the back of it) and he did a wheelie till about 100mph, dropped it, and hit a good 140/150 before he let out. and i must say, doing 90+ on a snowmobile was much scarier than riding on the back of that bike.

 

 

Theprevious fastest production car in the world (Bugatti Veyron 16.4) has 1001hp around 920whp. for that car to reach 150mph it needs 250 whp, and for the car to reach its top speed of 253mph it needs the other 770whp. So in my opinion (and everyone knows what people say about them) your story is just that, a story. No offence.

And more food for thought: the Bugatti isdesigned, wind tunnel tested,andmade by hand to make sure that it doesnt fall apart at speeds of 200+mph. Something is telling me that a 94 mustang isnt.

 

Ok theres a few problems with this thread. First off, lets stop hating on the mustang. There is a HUGE difference between 215 MPH & 250. A BIG difference. Its not like 125 to 150. Aerodynamics play a huge part at those speeds and the power need to go from 220 to 221 is more than it is to go from 120 to 121. 2nd off 600rwhp can sertainly be used to go 215 MPH. It all depends on the cars weight, gears & aerodynamics.

Exsample, SLR McLaren has 617 BHP and can go 207 MPH. yes, the SLR is much more aero dyanic than the stang but thats only sending about 525 HP to the wheels. At those speeds the speedometer probly isent 100% acurate either. But I can sertainly see the car going 200+. And add into the fact the SLR has steeper gears, you start to see why his story is believable to me.

Did it happen, know idea. Is it plausable? Yes, so lets stop calling BS.

2nd off, lets stop all the "Speed kills" "somone think of the children" crap. Speed doesnt kill, stupid drivers kill. Yes its stupid to go in exsess of 100 MPH on public streets, but you really think you yelling at them on the internet is going to stop them? I have gone some very high speeds on public roads, but only when I feel its safe. If you want to argue numbers go ahead. The fact is less than 7% of accident can even be related to speed. Funny, according to the news it seems 100% of accidents are from street racers & teenagers. Maybe if we put more money towards making the driving test harder so idoits cant drive & less money into speed traps we could save some peoples lives.

id have to say the fastest ive gon eis 105 in the camaro, 138 in my old eclipse and a girl in a rsx passe dme

 

I hit 117 today and ended up getting pulled over. Thankfully the cop gunned me at 82 in a 55. If I was doing 3mph more, I would have been arrested for Reckless Driving.

damn i got pulled over doing 105 in a 55 but in court the judge dropped it to 75 in a 55 since no cops were there. i didnt get arrested tho/ oddly enough. people told me its probably because my fiance was with me
