Default Manual valve bodies for 4l60 transmission?

I was wondering if anyone knew of any manual valve bodies for the 4l60 auto transmission. I was also curious if a manual valve body for a 700R4 would be compatable. From my research on various sites, it seems the 4l60 was just a renamed 700R4 transmission, and if so parts could be compatable.

Not sure about getting a manual valvebody, I know they make them for it, I just haven't looked them up.

But, you are right about the 4l60 being a renamed 700r4. What car would this be going in to?

2002 Camaro.

From more online searching, it would appear Trans-Go makes shift kits and "reprogramming kits": http://www.transgo.com/rpg_generalmtr.php

It also seems they have a product that allows the driver full control of the gears of an auto tranny, which is exactly what I was looking for. However, I am still confused about what Trans-Go offers between their shift kit and reprogramming kits. On Summitracing, they have two Transgo shift kits for the 4l60E (is the 4l60E same as the 4l60?)

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TRG-4L60E-3/

However, there is a $200 price difference between the two, and Summit fails to describe the products. I assume the cheaper shift kit is just for hader shifting while retaining the use of the auto tranny controlling the gears. The more expensive one, I would assume, would be the "reprogramming kit" that allows the user to control all the gears to any RPM and speed as well as an increase in shifting firmness.

700R4 and 4L60 are basically the same. The 4L60E is the computer controlled version of the 4L60 and is not interchangeable with it, although many parts are.

^Thanks for the info. What percenatage of the parts available would you say are compatable between the 700R4 and 4l60 transmissions? I found the 700R4 kit at transmission parts USA for only $84.

A 4L60 IS a 700R4, it was just a new name GM gave it in 1993.
And know what you're getting into with a manual valve body. I have one in my T350, and whatever gear you put it in is what gear it's in. There will be NO automatic function available after you change it over. You'll have to manually shift from then on.

Yeah I realize I would have to always manually shift the gears, which is what I was looking into getting from the start. Thanks for the confirmation on the transmission naming.

'69, how do you like it in your car, any complaints? Is your's from Trans-go as well, or another brand?

2002 Camaro? You have a 4l60e, not a 4l60.

This is correct. Entirely different transmission all together.
Now how did that "2002" slip right by?
