LSD Carrier, what else is Needed for conversion w/ASR?
With an LSD Carrier, what else is Needed for conversion from an open rear-end? The ABS reluctor ring, but what is needed for ASR, anything else I would not already have?
TIA!

You will need a step by step instruction and specs. And yes you still need to verify the contact pattern. I would not use chauk I use dikum (not sure of the spelling). I really think you should have a pro set it up. Even after reading through the proceedure it is really good to help or be helped by someone who has done it before. It is the number two most common botched job by do it your selfer's.

Is it really that much more involved than when I had to remove the axle shafts and C-Clips when I swapped my rear drum to disc brakes on my old '95 3.4L? Well I did have help, my Dad & I did that job...
I do have the GM Service Manual -- not sure how well something like this is covered, since it's an upgrade...
I'm not sure what the crush sleeve is, and bearings and seals -- well I recently had the differential serviced where I think all the bearings were replaced due to a loud whirring noise...

The first time I did one I was amazed at what it took to get the crush bushing right. The job is not complicated but it is very unforgiving. Crush the crush bushing a little to much or not enough and the pinion bearing will fail. That bearing pre load is critical. Everything in the rear builds from there. Like I said one thing not right and it can all be junk in a matter of days. I had one kid that put it together wrong and drove it to the dealership (about 8 miles) the gears where not salvagable.
The manual should have the process for installing a new carrier and gears.

Lookie here, an install kit exists! Although it's not specifically for the carrier, wonder if there's anything missing:
http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...47&BIG=64047-1
Installation Kit, Ring and Pinion, 1989-02 Camaro/Firebird
$123.55
"This installation kit includes new pinion bearings, carrier bearings, crush collar, shim assortment, and seal; everything you need to install a new set of gears in your 7.5" 3-Series differential. You can also use this kit if you're just looking to rebuild the rear in your car or truck. This 7.5" differential can be found under many GM cars. Please call the SLP sales department for further details.
NOTE: SLP Gear Set's and Installation Kits are designed to work with 3-series carriers only, not 2-series carriers. Please check your rear-axle assembly prior to ordering. Call for details if necessary."

if he is not taking out the pinion and not changing the gear ratio, but just changing the carrier i dont see why he would have to remove the pinion. seems to me (imo) he would have to reset the gear mate wear patterns and play but that should be it.
