Life of my Engine

So ive got a 158k 3.4l camaro.
When i accelerate hard sometimes i feel a little lag, like my engine is holding back or something. It feels rugged. And sometimes its a nice monsterous pull. Any ideas?

Also since my engine is 158k, and im still young (17) meaning im kinda running it hard. Is it worth it modding the engine or just go for catback systems; intake; small bolt-ons?

And if my engine blows, would it be better to swap in a 3.8l or just buy a new car?

Also we got this car for $1,400 flat from my mom's old friend. He kept all his maintance and did very good. I doubt he drove it hard cuz he bought it with 14k mileage while 60yrs old. Suggestions?? thanks!

I would just stick with bolt-ons with that car. If your engine fails, I would suggest a new car. The 3.4 has as much in common with the 3.8, as it does with the 5.7. This just means there would be more to it than just swapping the engine and PCM.

Any other suggestions?
