Leaky pcv?

Exclamation Leaky pcv?

There is a plate on top of my upper intake that leaks something awful. its on the passenger side of the intake to the left of the 3800. what is this and why does it leak, what is it leaking for that matter it makes my engine compartment look like hell.

well now looking at the photo i see it says pcv what is this and what is it going to effect if its leaking?

What type of leak are you talking about? Vacuum leak?

Your PCV valve has been removed, or is that an alternate? I'm not totally familiar with that plate.

some sort of liquid i dont know if it is oil or antifreeze or what but dirt and grim stick to it and make the engine look like hell

i know there is a spring under that plate but im unsure of what its for. i remember loosening it to see what was under it when i had the intake off

The plate covers the PCV, which has a spring. You probably just need a new seal on the plate, which is likely deteriorated and leaking. Be sure to torque it to spec too.

thanks any idea what the torque specs are? and anyone know what the PCV is or does?

PCV= positive crankcase ventilation

Basically, any unburned vapors get sent back to the intake so they can be burned. Gets rid of any moisture as well.
