Default is intake worth it

I don't know if this has been asked, but is the K&N intake worth putting ona 2000 stock v6, i plan on adding exhaust also, but i was just trying to figure out if the intake does anything. It says about 7hp addition which isn't much, but I didn't know if it really does help with other things like mileage.

Are you talking about the intake, or just the filter? I ask, because you can save yourself some dough, and just dremel out the baffles on your stock lid, and just add the filter. Pretty much the same thing, minus the brand name for the lid.

on a 98+much easier and cheaper just to sand down the baffles but on 95-97 3.8s the a intake is a real improvment over the stock air box

on the 93-97 (i have a 97 v6) you have a giant black box that is just restricting as hell, i bought the SLP intake and it sounds better, i get better throttle response, and it looks alot better when you pop the hood. But my friend has a 99 v6 and he basically got the same power I did with a drill bit and some sand paper.

yeah 98 and up already basically have aftermarket intake, but anything under the intake is pretty much beast. You get a lot louder and a much better acceleration from an intake. But if you do buy an intake from K&N make sure you get the ovular shaped intake. The cone won't fit. The engine is changed on the 98's and up. The intake lays on the radiator.
