Got my '01 set at : 93 octane, stock fan, stock rev limit, speed limit Z (will NEVER get to that), Shift point 1-2 -6mph, 2-3 -6mph, 3-4 stock; shift firmness +25%.

The car shifts at about 4800 rpm's, about the fat part of the torque curve and doesn't bounce off the rev limit during shifting. Just play with it until you find what you like but make sure your battery is topped off.

Very true, make sure the car battery does not die while in the process of programming, or you will wind up with a non running car, that can only be recovered by using the GM tech II machine, or a new PCM.

I was actually just gonna post a topic on this because I'm am days away from buying this. Can someone explain exactly what you can do and how much horsepower you can gain?

My understanding is that you can adjust the air/fuel ratio, giving more horsepower but less gas mileage (who cares about gas mileage?). And obviously as stated above, you can change shift points. Anything else?

Yeah just go to their website and they will give you alot of information Hypertech.com.I know they dyno tested their programmer with an 2001 3.8 liter V6 bone stock automatic transmission and they ran in a controlled area. Here's the dyno chart http://hypertech.com/get_dynochart.p...535&tp=pdfBone stock the car put 160RWHP . With Regular gas it put 170RWHP and With premium it put 172RWHP. The programmer can lower the thermostat temp., adjust tobigger wheel size , diagnostic, adjust the speedo to better gears, set the rev limiter, delete top speed limiter, and theres more butI can't remember

If I had to do over again, I'd get a REAL program for doing the air/fuel mapping. Yes, the Hypertech does get you a bit more HP and allows for some adjustment of your running gear, but for what you spend for it, there's better out there.

See if you can find someone locally who'll let you try theirs. It will only program 1 car at a time (software locked) but if you can try it you might think it'sworth the money.

Just my experience with one, that's all.

So I programmed my car 6,000 rpm Rev limiter and the shifts points are1-2 (+1mph) 2-3(+2mph) 3-4(+7mph) and my question is during WOT is it going to shift or will it only redline becuase this was mentioned earlier and i dont want to F*** up my automatic transmission
