HT 3.4 ripoff?

I was hoping some of the more experienced gearheads could help me here, because I'm kinda out of my element.
I recently purchased what I was told was a used HT 3.4 GM crate engine. Upon inspection, I found it had two cracked piston skirts (#1 and 6), a flat cam (interestingly, no HT casting number was on it), and the crank has to be turned....oh well, those are the breaks when dealing with used engines, and sometimes unscrupulous people..
My suspicion however, is this is not a HT 3.4. That is a different concern, altogether.
It has a stamped serial number that I suspect is from a Camaro on the rear engine pad....it is:
A000707224
Is this a 3.4 out of a Camaro?
Thanks in advance for your help!

As far as I know GM never produced a HT (High Torque) 3.4L engine. The currnet run of 3.4s are not the same as the ones used in the Camaro/Firebird. This engine is based on the 2.8L that was used in the S series trucks.
Crate engines dont always mean "New" alot of the time they are rebuilt, which if done right is just fine. That would explain your turned crank, but the flat cam and busted skirts are not good and any rebutable rebuilder would not sell something like that.
Pics would help us figgure out what generation of 3.4L you own.
