Default How to Get the most out of 3.4L

Is there any mods to the 3.4 engine? that would make a huge difference in the horsepower and torque?

There is a velocity chip that plugs into the cig lighter that changes the eninge speed; easily a gain of 40 horses.

You need to search man, I bet there are threads right below your's that would help you out.

1. Prepare for massive assault against "performance chips." They get a lot of hatin' around here lol.
2. The best mod short of a turbo is the 3x00 top end swap. You can bolt up the lower intake manifold and heads from a 3500 (Malibu or G6) V6 engine and the 3400 Upper intake manifold (Grand Am) to the 3.4 block, plus a cam and some other stuff, and you'll be pushing around 230 hp on the stock bottom end with pump gas. This was what I was going to do, until I figured out I could drive a V8 instead lol. Fullthrottlev6.com is the best place to find info about that swap.

That plus a Turbinator, and a gutted muffler will make at least 1000HP.

Short of a top-end swap and turbo there's headers, cat-back exhaust, and a performance PCM by Jegs:

If you have a 5speed, a stage-II clutch really helps too. It made mine pretty quick.

What he needs is some speed holes. Ask Homer how to install.

The only chip is the one I posted:
http://www.jegs.com/i/JET/561/19501S/10002/-1

The other "chips" are just ohm resistors (usually 75k) that you put in yout IAT sensor. It makes your car run richer and sucks more air in. It really doesn't give you more HP.

If you are serious about more power, look at my previous post. Other than that, find a performance shop that will dyno-tune your car. Other than that the chips are useless and can throw off your PCM, air/fuel mixture, and check engine light.
