93 camaro 3.4 ,in need of some advise on how to retrieve codes on this car, i have scanned plenty obd2 cars before but not many obd1,,here's what's going on,,service engine light does work it comes on when you turn on ignition,light came on the other day and was gonna read coes,,i have your basic gm obd1 code reader that flashes your light for codes ,but when i plug it in you hear the fan run,light comes on and just stays on,no blinking of codes or nothing,,even tried jumper,,same outcome,,am i missing something here? what do i need to have to get codes from ecm?

 

Try a real OBDI scanner instead of a code flasher. I never had any luck using them on Camaros. It is also possible that the check engine light is burned out, covered with tape in order to hide it, or disconnected.
