Take the thermostat out. fill the radiator, run the car, replace thermo. You can just fill the radiator and let it cycle through. The thermo should open quick enough that you wont do damage.

No need to take the stat off unless you are changing that anyway. As soon as you start the car and temp goes up, the stat should open and allow the coolant in the block. Just did mine 2 weeks ago like that. No problems.

Keep an eye on the temp gauge though....just in case. In the begining start the car with the radiator cap off so you can top off the fluid as needed.

RE: HELP HELP QUICK....how to fill block with coolant

well heres the thing, the last few weeks ive notice early in the morning when the car is cold and i start it up (which i let heat up for like 2 minutes before putting it n drive) that it over heats. i read the cooling system details on this site saying that at times a bubble may form around the stat causing no coolent to enter but once it enters near the 220 degree mark it rapidly cools down. and thats beenlike that for the past few weeks. now the stais like 3 months old, hence, the question of should i take it out or not. well i have no car at the moment but still made it to school and work but in miami nowits rainning like heck and am doing this outside my house so ill have to wait...thanks again desi.....

I think it is telling you to take the writing off the hood.

I am not sure about the 3.4 motor but I think it's the same as the 3.8 Tstat. There is a bleeder valve on top of the tstat housing. When the upper rad hose gets warm, open the bleeder valve to let all the air out. Do that a few times. In the begining, you will notice the fluid come out with lots of bubbles (kinda like soda) but after the air is bled, only fluid will come out. Put a rag under the bleeder to prevent coolant on electrical parts. Good luck.

when the car is running reach in and squeeze the hose that leads up to the stat if it is hard stat is not opening if it is "Squishy" the stat is working. also check that while your car is over heating do you get heat from your heater
