Are you saying it won't stay running unless you give it some gas? Is the check engine light on?

There could be many reasons for the engine running poorly, but being that it happened after you filled up afterrunning reallylow on gas, we can and assume theremay be afuel problem.
Possibilities:
Got bad gas.
Clogged the fuel filter.
Damaged the fuel pump.
Clogged injector.
Check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail with FI pressure gage & see if it is OK, andholding up when you step on the gas pedal.

Couldn't hurt. I've never had any problem w/Shell. How long has it been since the fuel filter's been changed?

One. I guess I should have said "how long since the filter has". Driver's side near the rear jack point. One side is screwed on, the other is clipped on somehow.

Welcome to my world bud. I had the exact same thing happen, and it appears it's the fuel pump, which unless I do myself using the "trap door" method, will cost me around $700 to fix.
