Headlight removal

Hi, this is my first post here at this forum and I am hoping you guys can help me out. I just bought a 1999 camaro v6 and with it came 75000 miles. Of course with time the headlights oxidized and turned yellow, I have tried a few things but I haven't been successful yet. So I was wondering what you guys have used to remove the yellow crusty stains. One more thing is I was wondering how exactly to remove the headlights so I can clean them better. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
1goindiesel

Toothpaste and really dig in there with a brush. You can get some headlight cleaners at any autopart stores. I think there is only a couple bolts holding in the headlights altogether shouldn't be too hard.

Toothpaste huh... I wouldn't have thought of that. I am sanding it down with different grits 220-320-600-1500 and then turtle wax and orbital and that seems to be working but ill try the toothpaste on the other side. Oh and yea it looks just like a few bolts but I am not sure exactly how because two of them will adjust height and fitting so anybody that can help more on that would be nice. Thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks,

FYI, you will probably get more traffic and responses on this topic if you post up a thread in the 'exterior' section. There might even be a thread about it already in there, just do a little lookin around...I know plenty of people that have had the yellowing on their headlights, and someone in there should know exactly how to take the entire headlight out.

https://camaroforums.com/m_6920/tm.htmgood way to take care of them if they are really bad.

Meguires makes a product called Plastx that should be used every now and then as a follow up product to ensure the lights stay clear.

I use that Meguires stuff. Its great. I also use it on the plastic shield for my hockey helmet and on all my windshields.
