Uh-oh! Can't take all the torque of your 3.4?
You could have let the clutch out fast, but it still should grab and not slip no matter what.
When you replaced the clutch, did the pressure plate also get replaced?
EDIT: Was the flywheel replaced too, or at least re-surfaced?

When I was looking into a clutch for my 3.8 I found dozens of post on other sights of people who had back luck with the stock replacements even the OEM clutches bought from GM. We had a poster on this sight in the last few weeks that had a Delco clutch only make it 5K.
I would never recommend replacing a clutch without a resurface/replaced the flywheel. If there is any blue color, glazing or surface cracks it will cause the new clutch to fail. As a general rule clutches do not have much of a warranty but not surfacing the flywheel will void what they do give.

I put in the Centerforce dual friction unit. It is basicly the same pressure as stock but they claim 90% increase in holding pressure. I am a big fan of composite clutchs.
