Default Firebird upgrade

hey guys i know this is not a Pontiac forum but i know its almost the same thing, my brother wants to add some power to his firebird, i told him some headers would work, and also a catback exhaust. what would also be some good bolt on?? I have read that in order to get the power out of the headers and other mods, you have to get the PCM tune by a programmer, guys my brother has his car in mexico and well what could we do, we want to add some power to that bird thankx in advance for any advice.
