Picked it up last night, 98 3.8, it has 114k miles, white, for 2700, which I personally consider it a bargain, or a pretty legit deal. The only mods is the 1 inch drop, which makes it look so badass for some reason lol. AND, of course, I have a question, MANY...but im going to start out like any other noob, plain and simple haha

My first question was how to make the v6 exhaust sound like a v8. I KNOW it can NEVER be exact, but I want to get as close as possible. I have heard many v6 exhausts, and up until 3, 3.5 rpm, they sound pretty nice, but then, they get high pitched like ricers [sm=boosign.gif]

So which way is the best way to attain the deepest sound even AFTER 3k rpm? My personal input is headers. Im leaning towards pace setter. Tubing is 1-1/2" & collector diameter 2-1/2". Hi flo cat, y-pipe (with an e-cutout, im not sure, i barely know how to install one) 40 srs flows, aaaaand ya. what do you think about this setup? I have heard that the bigger the header the deeper the sound. Also, what route would you personally take to attain the most badass sound for your v6? 0.o

u cant do it. the motor will never have that pitch. what u can do is make the exhaust louder. it will never have the presence of the v8, but that doesnt mean u cant like it either right?

go to youtube and search for camaro exhaust. see if u find a particular exhaust u like. thats ur best bet. if you dont have emisssions testing go with an offroad ypipe. this will make it sound meaner.

the guys in the v6 section can tell u what they did to make theirs sound good.

 

You picked the wrong car if you want it to sound like a V8. The best sounding V6 I've ever heard, I'll provide a link to. Headers help the sound, but nothing will ever make it sound like an eight.
