Engine swap?

I bought my 94 camaro used from another guy who has allredy swapped out the old engine and put in a new one that now has about 38k on it. He put alot of work into this engine he ported and polished it ,CAI, new injection cams and lifters perfomance exhaust, new ing coils, msd ingition. Now for the down side he misswired a few things so the check engine light is always on so i never know whaen there is a new problem comming up and the low oil light is always on as well i fix this by checking the oil and doing prevent mait on the car everye sunday. Also i took the car to the mechnic cause i thought the lifter was bad. we took the engine down and discovred that the lifter wasnt bad but that the lifter guide had excessive clearence so the engine always makes the clicking sound which sucks alot. the car is a manual with preformance clutch on it and i wanted to know if you guys think that it would be cheaper to swap in a rebuit 350 small block or if i should just run like this for a while. Also what kind of power change do you think i would see if i swapped the engine out. Finally how many of the parts do you think i could transfer to the new engine and would it be easier to carb the engine or keep it EFI.

P.S. the mechanic said that in a year the engine would have to get rebuilt anyways so would it be cheaper to kkep the old one or get a new one?

RE: Engine swap?

Stay LT1.

It's cheaper that way.

Really.

RE: Engine swap?

If the engine is good otherwise, just put in a new lifter gude. Should be able to that by just pulling the intake manifold. However, this is a pretty rare problem, so check the lifter, pushrods, and valve lash.
