Default Does anyone know what this is or does??

ive been stripping down the unused wiring behind my dash and everything went ok untill i came across this box behind my dash.

i unplugged it and the car still ran but since cuting the plugs and related wiring off completely the car now starts but cuts out after a second or so.

Thing is i dont know what this unit is or what it does.
Can anyone help please. I live in the uk so parts and info are very few and far between.

Lol. That was what I was thinking. Why cut it if it unplugs.

Sounds like the typical brain "sturgeon" at work. If you don't know what it is, just cut it off. lol

Oh, that's the "keeps the engine running" module.
Let's see....you cut it out, now the engine won't run. Common sense would dictate splicing it back in to re-fix what you "fixed".
I wondered too, why are you haphazardly cutting things out of the car?

Why would someone do this? Is there a lot of unused wires on your car? We had a Iroc towed in back in the late 80's for a no start. The ECU had been cut out of it. Some rich kid had the car and a buddy told him it would run faster if he got rid of the computer system. If I remember right it was 156 wires I had to solder and shrink wrap. The car was so new no wiring harness was available. This post reminds me of that

Auto wiring is a big money making scam. The car manufacturers make money by how many pounds of copper wire they can sell. And with a car having miles of wire, it adds up big time. So they just stuff wires anywhere they can, and to make it look authentic, they make up these phony but real looking modules and computers to hook up to. In reality, a car only needs one wire to run, to power the ignition. All the rest is just "fluff".
At least....that's what must be going through the minds of these "Jack The Rippers".
