Dash Pad
Hey guys. My dash pad is cracked all to hell. What are your views on this??
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-96...item1c15ea8980 It gets glued over the existing dash to cover the cracks. Or does anyone have a dash pad they don't need?? Thanks! |
I been looking at those as well. The 98 we have has a cracked dash pad and the 94Z I bought has no pad at all. I think I am going to spend a $100 more dollars and get one of the original new pads that are advertised on ebay if I can't find a decent one locally. My daughter can buy whatever she wants for the 98! I paid for the engine rebuilt! :)

E-bay is filtered here at work so I cant see what you are asking about, but... around here the wrecking yards get camaros in regularly and they only want like $25 for the large plastic part under the glass. I would just keep looking in the local yards and see what comes up.

^Me too! There are 5 salvage yards around me and NONE of them had a decent interior. I probably looked in 50+ Camaros at dash pads and driver's seats...

have you tried car-part.com ?
|
^no lol

Yes and only thing that I could find that would even come close on car-part.com was a listing for a dash panel and the cheapest was $150 and 5 hours away. Everything else was priced in the $250 to $400 range. So, I am thinking it has to be the complete dash.

The ebay seller says:
"The dealer does not have new Dash Pads, when they did they sold for several dollars." Well I have " issues" with that statement. We discussed the dash "pad" issue in another thread: https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02-general-41/dash-pad-removal-54316/ There is no dash pad. It's a trim panel. A *hard* plastic trim panel. Padding? No, none. I guess the seller does sell some items that are padded or replacements for cars that actually do have soft, vinyl-covered foam dashes but that is not the case with a 4th generation Camaro. The seller should know the car he is selling parts for. Also, despite what the seller says, you *can* buy a brand new dash trim panel from your local GM dealer. The part number is 10267171. It is expensive, no doubt. $311 list price, but I got mine for $250.00. Pics of my new part and installation info is in the above-mentioned thread. Edit: I forgot to say earlier that the ebay offering does look like a decent product, at least in the pictures. It's less than half the price of the GM part and that's an important consideration. I well remember my college days when a $20 check from my parents meant that I could eat something other than Ramen Noodles again. |
Ok 99% of people know that when I say dash pad I'm referring to the huge chunk of plastic under the windshield. Yes I know it's hard plastic. Yes I know it costs at least $250 dollars to get a new one. What I want to know is if this aftermarket dash cover that is made to look factory will look good or if I should just save up the money to get a brand new "upper dash trim panel"
