Default crankshaft position sensor

i have a 95 camaro 3.4l v6.

I am cleaning up the wiring in the engine compartment.
I a reading some of the diagrams in the back of my haynes
repair manual and I see a plug diagram AND i also have a
plug for BOTH a crankshaft position sensor AND a crankshaft
position sensor hi resolution.

I know i have a crankshaft position sensor, but do I
also have a crankshaft position sensor hi resolution.

How do I tell which plug to plug into the crankshaft
positon sensor, if I only have one?

And also what is the differnce between the two?

Default RE: crankshaft position sensor

The 24X (high res) sensor is located behind the front damper, helpscontrols clocking up to 2400 RPM. Uses a 3 wire connector: PNK, PNK/BLK, BLU/WHT

The 3X (low res) sensor is located on the side of the block near the center of the crank & picks up when the 24X sensor fades out , over 2400 RPM. Uses a 2 wire connector: YEL, PPL twisted pair.

The Cam position sensor is located on the front of the engine behind the water pump and tells the PCM when the #1 cylinder is on the intake stroke, used for injector timing, among other things. Uses a 3 wire connector: PNK, PNK/BLK, BRN/WHT

All 3 sensors work together to give the PCM information as to which cylinder is in which stroke, andthe engine needs all three to work.

Default RE: crankshaft position sensor

stupid me. i read the diagram wrong.

once you mentioned the cam position sensor, i remembered the plug for it.
I just couldnt see it cause I thought the wires hooked up to the silenoid that the
2 plug wire hooks to and the 2 hoses.

thanks for the detailed explanation. appreciate the help.
