Default Costs to rebuild 3.4L v6?

Has anyone rebuilt a 3.4L engine?

I can do the assembly on the engine, thats no problem, but would have to have a machine shop bore and hone the block, probably grind the crank, do the heads, mount the pistons to the rods, etc.

Just wondering if its worth it or to buy a re-manufactured long block.

Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks

It will all depend on the level of the rebuild and what the motor needs. When you say "do the heads" Are you talking replacing the guides and regrinding the seats? that in itself could $600-$800 or You could check for issues if all is ok then relap the valves and replace the seals for about $80-$100

Find a local shop and talk to them. If you are just going by dollars remanufactured motor will win 95% of the time.

agree with professor gorn. lol if u are looking for a stock rebuild then almost all the time it costs less to buy a rebuilt motor than to rebuild yourself. that is if u dont have a shop with machinist tools and such to do "all" the work yourself.
