considering buying an 83' z-28
While im in love with 95 3.4l camaro theres something about third gens i can't seem to get enough of. I was looking at a black and gold 83' z-28 in pennsylvania. The car from what it says on craigslist has 305 cross- fire injection and a 700r4 tranny it says the motor and tranny were both rebuilt but not sure when exactly ( previous owner said so, who knows how true that is) anyway, it has flowmasters and a grant steering wheel, dirve side power mirror doesnt work and it says looks like the front end had been repainted but all the lines are fine on the car. the car supposidly runs and drives nicely. Now im looking for some insight, I'm considering parting with my 95 for this car and i guess what i was wondering is.. is this a good idea? What would you guys do.. stick with the 95 for now until i get out of college or until it blows up or go for it when im just starting college. I love camaro's and any chevy muscle car. I have such a passion to own one and while my car right now is nice and good for an 18 yr. old i still find myself wanting a v-8.. but doesnt everyone? It doesnt mention the miles but im thinking of calling tom. My car has a 150,000k on it and still running strong btw.. idk what to do. I appologize for the extremely long post in advance.

yeah i should have included a price haha.. it's $1500, doesnt list the miles though. It says it'll spin in second gear too. I didn't know it was only rated at 165 hp though. I'd still like the have a v-8 though. Instead of selling my car to buy that one I may just save some paychecks over the summer and if the camaro is still for sale purchase that as a project so to speak while going to school.

Yeah i think im going to save over summer and buy it if it's still for sale. My friends dad has a 327 in his nova ss that hes swaping out for 350 and he told me i could have the 327 when hes done, whether or not that would fit into the z-28 i have no idea.? Like you said badinfluence, 1500 isn't that bad if it's in decent condition and from the pictures it looks like it is. But pictures could be decieving so obviously id test drive it first. thanks for all the input, i appreciate it.

yea, 1500 is pretty good, especially if its all rebuilt, my buddy has an 84, rebuilt trans+motor, he spins them in second if hes on it, his big kills are a chrysler crossfire, and a couple stangs, even if its not crazy fast there still quick, and sound badass

your 3.4 has more horse, the 305 has more tourqe, just like the 3.8s only have 30-ish less horse than a Z28, but the Z beats it in tourqe by a good 100. both were ment to be a"sleeper"-ish car, looking exactly the same as the 3.8s/2.8s, but they'd tear thru 1st 2nd and 3rd, where the 6's couldnt. but the z and 305 have very weak top end, i'd be willing to bet on a 3.8 over a 305 on top speed, bout same for 3.8 and Z.
