Clutch/ mabye a transmission problem?

Hey everyone, just bought my first camaro and to say the least i got burned...

bought it with the understanding it needed a starter and a waterpump to get back on the road.. the intake gaskets were leaking bad. that means it needed a motor swap so i did.

long story short, its a 1994 3.4 with 5 speed. car has 159xxx miles and the new motor/ long block has 62xxx miles. when i repaced the motor, i also had the clutch replaced which included the plates and the entire hydroulic system.

the problem is: going into reverse isnt possible w/ out grinding and 1st gear sometimes gives me trouble... the other gears are great. i took and had the clutch blead and that mabye helped a little... not enough to make a difference. keep in mind i dont know anything about the history of the car becase i cannot trust the ****** that sold me the "easily fixable" car.

any ideas? i bought this as a gas saver and now have almost $4000 invested. car runs and drives great otherwise.

thanks in advance everyone,

Chris

dude, just cause the intake was leaking, what made you think you needed to replace the engine?

Reverse gear is sync'd with a first gear. So before you put it in R put it in a forward gear then it should go right in. Did you replace your pressure plate when you did the clutch?
